Richmond, Virginia – Thomas & Betts welcomes Viswas Purani as the new Vice President & General Manager of the Power Solutions division. In this role, Purani will oversee all Power Solutions brands including Cyberex, United Power, Joslyn, and Current Technology.
Prior to joining Thomas & Betts Power Solutions, Viswas Purani worked for Eaton Corporation as the Business Unit Manager responsible for managing and growing a $250M single phase UPS business. He has over twenty years of global experience in power electronics and technology. Moreover, Purani was Director of Emerging Technologies and Applications with American Power Conversion Corporation, where he developed and launched several award winning power, cooling and network-critical physical infrastructure systems. He has successfully started a data center solutions company in the Middle-East and Motorola semiconductor distribution in western India. In addition, he was involved with technology transfers of a variety of power electronics systems from leading American and European companies. Purani has an outstanding educational background, as well, consisting of a Bachelors degree with a major in Power Electronics Engineering (1988) and a Masters degree in Business Administration with a major in International Business from Johnson & Wales University (1999). He completed the MIT Sloan Executive certificate program in Innovation & Strategy in 2007.
